As of 10:20 AM on May 7, 2025 we are looking into doing some upgrades to the A8+ At this time the printer has a Y-Axis motion issue in that it wants to "lean" the object being printed towards the front of the machine as the Z-Axis increases. This makes anything printed look as if it is related to the "Leaning Tower of Piza!"
Here is an example:
Left side in photo was towards the front of the printer when it was printing.
This was supposed to be an open top box
Notice shift in the Y-Axis.
I have found several references to what might be causing this: 1.) Bearings binding and not moving freely on the Y-Axis (I think this is our issue!) 2.) Belt pully gear loose on the Y-Axis stepper motor 3.) Bad stepper motor 4.) Bad H-bridge chip on system board
UPDATE (05/09/2025) -- I think I have discovered the binding issue!
Here are upgrades that have been done so far: 1.) Z-Axis adjustment improvement modification: YouTube video from Embrace Making 2.) Strain relief upgrades for wiring harnesses: YouTube video from Embrace Making 3.) Installed a new Meanwell LRS-350-24 PSU
In the research for possible upgrade #3 above, some interesting things have turned up that need to be looked into before progressing with this upgrade.
